The Bank of England expects the new King Charles III polymer banknotes to go into circulation in mid-2024. This will be the first time that Bank of England notes depict any other monarch apart from Queen Elizabeth II, though Treasury notes have previously had the image of King George V on them.

Apart from the image of King Charles III appearing on the notes, no other differences to the design have been announced meaning the images on the reverse will stay the same. This has been at the request of The King to minimise the environmental and financial impact.
