Brixton pound. Local currency. This 1st Edition features community activist Olive Morris.
The Brixton pound was first trialled at Transition Town Brixton’s “Local Economy Day” on 19 June 2008. It was then launched on 17 September 2009 by Transition Town Brixton. The Brixton pound is a local currency that is available as an alternative to sterling. The first trading day of the Brixton pound was on 18 September 2009 with 80 local businesses accepting the currency.
